Trust your timing

You are exactly where you need to be, even if it doesn’t feel like it. Even if it feels like you’re stuck, or rushing, or like nothing is happening. Because a lot of the time, life is still moving… it’s just moving internally first.

And it honestly doesn’t matter where your parents were at your age, where your friends are, or what people your age have achieved. Comparing timelines will always make you feel behind, even when you’re not. You have your own timing, your own path, and your own lessons. What matters is staying aligned with yourself. And alignment is simple: saying “yes” only when you actually mean yes, and saying “no” when something doesn’t feel right. Sometimes the only thing you need to do is pause and listen. Sometimes you only need to take one step — and the next step will show itself after.

Most of us learned what life is supposed to look like through other people. We were taught what success is, what love is, what “normal” is. And we often learn who we are based on what we’ve been told about ourselves. But a lot of that isn’t even you — it’s just other people’s projections, their fears, their expectations, their opinions.

And there’s actually a simple way to check if you’re on track. Look at how you wake up. Do you feel like you enjoy your life as it is? Do you have energy, curiosity, motivation? Or do you feel like you’re waiting for something to happen before you can finally be happy? Do you wake up already tired, already annoyed, wishing the day was over? Because your energy tells you a lot. Not as a judgment — just as information.

“Trust yourself. You know more than you think you do.”

Benjamin Spock

Finding yourself isn’t something you do by thinking more. You find yourself by living. By trying a new routine, changing your schedule, testing new things, doing what you’ve been postponing, and observing how you feel when you finally do it. Sometimes you’ll notice it instantly — like your inner light turns on again. Your energy comes back. And you realize you actually like that thing you kept avoiding.

But the truth is, most of us live in the past or in the future. We replay what happened, or we worry about what’s coming, and we miss the present. And the present is the only part you can actually live. If you practice staying here — even a little bit more each day — life starts to feel different. You start noticing more. You enjoy things as they happen, because you realize that moment isn’t coming back.

And what’s meant for you will find you. No one can take it away from you. Whether it’s a job, a relationship, an opportunity, an experience… even a hard season that forces you to grow. Some things are simply part of your path. And the more you detach from panic and overthinking, the clearer your next step becomes.

And the reason I’m saying this is because so many people think they’re behind, when in reality they’re just in a phase that doesn’t look “productive” from the outside. But growth doesn’t always look like achievements. Sometimes growth looks like learning how to trust yourself again. Learning how to stop forcing things. Learning how to be patient with your timing without losing your direction.

Also, don’t underestimate how much your life changes when you stop trying to control everything. When you stop needing certainty before you move. Because clarity doesn’t come first — it comes after action. You don’t need to know the whole plan. You just need to keep taking honest steps, and keep checking in with yourself along the way.

And if you’re in a season where things feel slow, quiet, or confusing, don’t treat that as failure. Treat it as preparation. Sometimes life is removing distractions. Sometimes it’s closing doors that would’ve taken you off track. Sometimes it’s teaching you how to stand on your own, so when the right things come, you don’t lose yourself again trying to keep them.

So keep going. Keep choosing what feels true. Keep listening to that inner voice, even when it’s uncomfortable. Because the more you stay aligned, the more your life starts to feel like yours — and that’s when everything begins to make sense.
